American Job Centers
What are American Job Centers?
The American Job Centers (AJCs) are a valuable resource for employers and job seekers in Connecticut and across the United States. The network of job centers provides a range of services that help people find and maintain employment. AJCs also help companies continue meeting their workforce needs.
When were American Job Centers established?
The American Job Centers were established in 2014 as part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which aimed to improve the workforce development system and increase access to job training and education. The Centers are governed by the Employment and Training Administration division of the Department of Labor. AJCs work in partnership with state and local development boards.
What kinds of services do American Jobs Centers offer?
AJCs offer a variety of tools and resources to job seekers, including:
- Career counseling
- Interview preparation
- Job search assistance
- Job postings
- Resume writing
- Referrals to community resources
- Skills assessments
- Training opportunities
AJCs also provide services for veterans, people with disabilities, and other underserved groups.
