I was born in Revere, Massachusetts, and grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. My husband, Tony, and I met in college and have raised three amazing young men. I launched Nurse Consultants LLC, an independent childcare consulting company in 1990. This has enabled me to work with children, childcare teachers, owners, and directors. I have had the opportunity to work in many specialty areas. I am passionate about our seniors and making sure they have access to the resources in the community. I am a board member on the council on aging, GSSSI and the Holland Helpers. In 2019 I launched a second company Advocates for Senior Independence. My goal after graduating from UConn was to obtain employment as a college professor working with a diverse group of students. It is such an honor to be part of the very welcoming Goodwin community and all it has to offer to our students.

H-E-E-N-T-L Assessment Handout

My teaching philosophy is to create a non-threatening environment both in the didactic and clinical setting, while continually stressing the QSEN core values of nursing: patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety, and informatics. I believe it is critical to push my students to "think like a nurse." Students must continue to educate themselves to obtain knowledge of the most current evidence based practice in order to provide optimal care. They need to engage in their education in order to florish. My goal for each student is to become a professional, caring nurse who works collaboratively with peers. We need each other in order to provide the best care possible.

Seniors:
The education of the patient and family to assure they possess knowledge of available resources to promote optimal health. In addition
provide assistant to the client enabling them to "age in place."

Universal Design Learning (UDL):
May 2018 I was introduced to UDL and the positive effects it has on academia. Since then, I have attended and presented at numerous conferences. This has enabled me to incorporate innovative and interactive methods of teaching into my lessons. I enhance comprehension by offering multiple ways of learning, which empowers my students to become lifelong learners. In utilizing multiple means of representation.
