Maryann Santos is a Licensed Optician in Connecticut and Program Director of Vision Care Technology at Goodwin University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Education concentrating on curriculum and instruction.

Maryann Santos has worked in the optical industry for over three decades in the lab, dispensary, and fitting contact lenses. She owns and operates Optical Concepts, an Optical Dispensary Training Service throughout Connecticut. In addition to her program director position at Goodwin, Maryann is also employed as a Licensed Optician at Madison Optical, fitting and dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses. Her Goodwin students are able to benefit from her work as a practicing optician by learning about current industry trends and hands-on customer care.

In her personal time, Maryann enjoys bird watching, playing her viola, her church life, making flowers out of paper, organic gardening, and finding the balance of life. The highlight of her life is enjoying time with her husband and two children.

Teaching Philosophy
To motivate so students may reach their greatest potential. To help students recognize what they have within themselves so they may persevere towards their goal. I will provide support and encouragement by delivering content in an engaging way, so the student “gets it.” I am committed to helping develop students to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners.
