The American Red Cross will hold a critical blood drive at the Goodwin College Community Room, One Riverside Drive in East Hartford from 8:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 11. There is an urgent need for blood and platelet donations. Many sponsors postponed drives during the winter holidays when regular donors are busy. This contributed to about 1,700 fewer blood drives across the country compared to the two previous months, resulting in about 50,000 fewer donations. This shortfall has reduced the blood supply and donations are needed to reverse the declining supply. The Red Cross is looking to collect 52 units of blood, 2+ units over the goal of 50 units. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code: Goodwin. Donors at the February 11 will receive a We Challenge U t-shirt while supplies last.
