Goodwin University has received two designations of honor from Military Friendly® Schools for its service to current and veteran members of the military and their families.
“We are thrilled that Goodwin has been recognized as both a Gold Level Military Friendly® School and a Military Friendly® Spouse School for 2021-2022,” said Craig Jordan, Veterans Coordinator in Student Affairs at the University. “We work diligently to create specific support systems that help veterans succeed in an academic setting. That includes having a full-time VA Certifying School Official in our Registrar’s Office, Rexhina Januzi, who has been instrumental in helping our veterans process their enrollment benefits, and in working directly with the VA processing center to advocate for our students. We also continuously strive to find ways that they can have a significant voice in the life in our school community.”
The Military Friendly® Schools program is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to a proprietary, a data-driven survey from participating institutions. The survey questions, methodology, criteria, and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers.
“Our standards assist schools by providing a benchmark that promotes positive educational outcomes, resources, and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the Military Community,” said Kayla Lopez, National Director of Military Partnerships for Military Friendly®.
The Gold designation received by Goodwin is an “over and above” honor in the Military Friendly® category. More than 1,200 schools participated in the 2021-2022 survey, with 747 schools earning recognition as a Military Friendly School, of which 194 were selected for the Military Friendly® Spouse Schools list. Goodwin was selected for its leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs for military spouses.
