Goodwin University is an institution that believes in meeting the needs of our community, and right now, communities across the country need nurses and hospital staff. We hope to be a part of the solution for registered nurses who are pursuing their RN-to-BSN. By the Fall 2022 semester, Goodwin’s RN-to-BSN program will offer a more desirable work-school-life balance while still providing a direct path to your career goals. Vivienne Friday, EdD, MSN, RN, CNE, MSOL, Goodwin’s RN-to-BSN Program Director, highlights three areas where you can expect to see these changes.
- It can be completed in less time.
There’s so much that can happen in a year and earning your RN-to-BSN in as few as 12 months is now achievable. That’s four months sooner than the previous 16-month time commitment to complete the program. You can earn your RN-to-BSN degree completely online and will have access to faculty feedback and communication, tutoring services, cohort relationships, and many other on-campus services.
“[This update] is a workforce strategy and an economic strategy for our students,” says Friday.
- Our class schedules are more convenient for working RNs.
Your first semester will be comprised of two courses, one accelerated 7-week and one traditional 15-week. As your 7-week course concludes, you’ll be able to start taking credits towards your general education or elective requirements. If you decide to keep those weeks open, you’ll have time in your schedule that leaves room for your personal and work endeavors. You can even take advantage of Goodwin’s variety of support services and community activities.
“We want to make sure we have the proper supports in place to make sure students are successful,” says Friday.
- You can save money on tuition costs.
As a student in the RN-to-BSN program, you can complete the program within 12 months, reducing your tuition payments by one semester less. Nowadays, receiving a price cut from reduced tuition fees can go a long way. At Goodwin, we strive to provide each student with multiple options for financial aid while also providing one of the lowest tuition costs for private, non-profit universities in the state.
“You’re saving the cost, [without] reducing the quality,” says Friday
As a Goodwin student, we want you to feel empowered to take on new challenges in life. While our goal is to provide you with every resource you’ll need to succeed, we strive to improve along with you.
