A Riverside Magnet School (RMS) mother was drawn to the school because of her own experience at Goodwin College. She first heard about RMS while she was completing her bachelor’s degree and felt it would be the right choice for her son.
“My experience attending Goodwin College was so positive and rewarding — I really felt like I was part of a community,” she said. “As a Goodwin alumna, I knew my son would be in good hands at RMS.”
One aspect that she likes about RMS in particular is its diversity.
“With students from so many different towns, RMS provides a better experience for my child and gives him the opportunity to be around other students that he would not meet at his hometown school,” she said. “I think that’s the beauty of RMS — so many different communities coming together as one.”
She believes that the innovative approach to learning has allowed her son to flourish both academically and socially.
“My son’s third grade class was the first to take the state test, and I was ecstatic when I saw that their scores were some of the highest in the state,” she shared.
She believes that the innovative Reggio Emilia model is to thank for her son’s continued growth.
“Reggio Emilia has helped my son become more resilient, confident, and independent,” she stated.
“I would recommend Riverside Magnet School to other parents because the Reggio Emilia curriculum is amazing,” she concluded. “And the community you get to be a part of is so rewarding.”
