Megan Husson: “It felt like I was training for a career while I was still in the classroom.”

Megan Husson, recent Goodwin College Medical Assisting graduate, was hired at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in the Hematology/Oncology Department exactly four years to the day of her discharge. At just 16 years old, Husson had been diagnosed with superior mesenteric artery syndrome, a rare gastro-vascular disorder that affects the intestines. “It took eight months to be diagnosed,” Husson recalled. “I’m 5’7 and was 102 pounds and on 28 different medications a day.” Continue reading Megan Husson: “It felt like I was training for a career while I was still in the classroom.”

Yesenia Aponte

Yesenia Aponte: “Without Goodwin’s support, I wouldn’t have been able to continue.”

Goodwin student Yesenia Aponte calls the College her second home. “It’s so peaceful here, and everyone I’ve met is friendly and helpful,” Aponte stated. Having transferred from another school, she expected working with the Admissions Office to be time consuming. “I thought the transfer process was going to be more complicated, but Goodwin made it easy.”

Lincoln LeFebvre has been working at Home Depot for nearly a decade. After taking courses at another college but not completing his degree — and being passed up twice for managerial position promotions — he decided to enroll in Goodwin College’s Management and Leadership program. Christina Tolides: “I’m growing the way a nurse is supposed to grow”

Christina Tolides works in the health and safety analysis and prevention area at a large company, but realized instead of just offering emotional support she wanted to be able to offer a more well-rounded approach to care. With an existing degree in forensic science and a minor in chemistry, Tolides decided to make a career change and enrolled in Goodwin’s nursing program. Kelly Desso: From Music to Asset Protection

Desso is now a student in the Public Safety program at Goodwin. “I came to Goodwin because it is an institution that strives for results. The concept of ‘When am I ever going to use this?’ does not exist here,” Desso said. Ashley Cichowicz had been employed at a preschool in Manchester, Connecticut, but when it closed due to budget cuts, she found herself working at a fast food restaurant and unable to meet her bills.
